Kerry C. Duggan is a distinguished leader in sustainability, serving as the Founder and Managing Partner of Energy Security Partners, which operates in Detroit, Traverse City, and the UP. A recognized sustainability expert, corporate board director, and dynamic global public speaker, an angel investor, a film executive producer, and a former climate advisor to then Vice President Joe Biden and deputy of President Obama’s Detroit taskforce. She established Energy Security Partners (ESP), a global strategic advisory firm dedicated to helping CEOs, executive leadership teams, and entrepreneurs navigate the interconnected challenges of climate, energy, and security. ESP delivers pragmatic solutions that reduce risks, enhance resilience, and accelerate progress. Services include place-based strategies, cross-sector impact and collaboration, organizational performance enhancement, and private events and convenings.
Duggan holds positions on three corporate boards (Perma-Fix NASDAQ: PESI, Envergia, and BlueGreen Water Technologies) and several advisory boards (including Arctaris Impact Investors, Commonweal Ventures, Our Next Energy, and Aclima, Inc.). She currently serves as an appointee of Governor Whitmer on the State of Michigan’s Council on Climate Solutions and was recently appointed by Mayor Mike Duggan (no relation) to the City of Detroit’s inaugural Women’s Commission.
Her previous achievements include founding the SEAS Sustainability Clinic in Detroit and the Michigan Business Sustainability Network (MBSR) at University of Michigan; participating on U.S. Department of Energy’s prestigious Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) under Secretary Jennifer Granholm on Governor Gretchen Whitmer's bipartisan Growth Council; serving on the Biden-Harris Transition Team for the Department of Energy (DOE) Agency Review Team; and being a Biden appointee to the 2020 Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force on climate. Duggan has held senior roles in the Obama-Biden Administration, including as climate advisor for then-Vice President Joe Biden and as deputy director of President Obama's Detroit task force. She has also held leadership positions at the DOE, including Director of Legislative, Regulatory, and Urban Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement Director in the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE).
