Mitch Jackson, FedEx’s first Chief Sustainability Officer, has joined Zero Circle as an advisory board member.
During his tenure at FedEx, Jackson achieved a remarkable balance between environmental responsibility and customer service excellence, setting high standards for the package delivery industry.
Jackson spearheaded the implementation of hybrid-electric and electric vehicles at FedEx, launching commercial hybrids into the marketplace. He also successfully pushed legislation for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards in commercial trucking - envisioning it for the industry. In 2023, Sustainability Magazine recognized Jackson among the Top 100 Global Chief Sustainability Officers. He retired from FedEx in July 2024.
Jackson’s extensive experience in sustainability, operations, engineering, and entrepreneurship bolsters Zero Circle’s advisory board. His background includes:
- Developing FedEx's "Reduce, Replace, Revolutionize" strategy
- Setting FedEx's ambitious goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2040
- Pioneering the implementation of hybrid and electric vehicles in commercial fleets
- Championing California's largest corporate rooftop solar array at FedEx in 2005
- Overseeing the publication of the annual FedEx ESG Report
- Playing a pivotal role in the issuance of the first sustainability bond at FedEx
In addition, Jackson serves as co-chair of the Keystone Policy Center’s Board of Trustees and sits on its Energy Board. He has contributed to various advisory boards, including those at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and WRI’s Ross Center Advisory Group. He earned a Master’s of Science degree in Operations Management from University of Arkansas and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Memphis.
